is ontario wine actually good?

Something that really struck me when I first moved to Toronto was the utter hatred for Ontario made wine.

Here’s a pattern I’ve noticed in Canadian wine:

-BC loves supporting all Canadian wine

-Alberta is the secret wine mecca with access to pretty much everything, making them high brow imbibers (despite what Ontario wants folks to think)

-Quebec loves Quebec

-Saskatchewan will drink anything

-Ontarians hate Ontario wine and almost never purchase Ontario offers

Ontario has been unknowingly indoctrinated by the monopoly to think Oyster Bay is the superior choice, because what’s stocked for Canadian wine is plonk, or “international domestic blend”, which is only about 20% Canadian wine, blended away with bulk juice dumped in the Ontario market, not unlike an oil tanker “accidentally” spilling their waste into open waters.

There’s an obscene amount of criminally delicious and underrated Ontario made wine - we’re just overdue for a massive attitude shift.
